Valley of the Moon is more than a name. It’s a place, a feeling, and a part of Sonoma wine history.
Our story began in 1941, when Enrico Parducci and Peter Domenici acquired the historic Madrone Vineyards estate in Glen Ellen and gave it a new name: Valley of the Moon Winery.
The property’s winemaking roots stretched back even further, to the earliest days of Sonoma viticulture. Over the generations that followed, Valley of the Moon became part of the fabric of Sonoma wine country—a name connected to the vineyards, communities, and relaxed California lifestyle that make this corner of the world so special.
That history is where our story begins. But it isn’t where it ends.

The Lawson Family becomes steward of Valley of the Moon, embracing the opportunity to carry its history forward while introducing the wines to a new generation.

Today, Valley of the Moon is proudly owned by the Lawson Family, a California winegrowing family and owners of Victor Vineyards.
For the Lawsons, acquiring Valley of the Moon wasn’t simply about adding another wine brand. It was an opportunity to become stewards of a name with deep roots in California wine history—and to give it a new future.
Today, our wines are produced at the family’s winery in Victor, California, where our team oversees winemaking and production while sourcing fruit from Sonoma County and other carefully selected California vineyards appropriate to each wine.
And while our winemaking home is currently in Victor, our compass still points toward Sonoma.
The family’s long-term vision is to establish a new home for Valley of the Moon in the place that inspired its name—bringing the brand back to Sonoma Valley when the right opportunity presents itself.
The next chapter of Valley of the Moon is still being written.

Sonoma remains at the heart of Valley of the Moon, reflected in wines including our Sonoma County Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
But our approach has never been about letting a boundary on a map dictate what belongs at the table.
Wines like our Pinot Gris–Viognier and 1941 Red Blend allow us to look beyond Sonoma to selected California vineyards while maintaining the approachable, food-friendly style that defines Valley of the Moon.
